on studentship.
A fact: I am constantly blown away by my students. I have a man who comes to my class at least once a week who has the tightest hips I have ever seen. And every time I teach a hip-opening pose, he sits down on a block with a smile on his face and breathes until the rest of the class has moved on. From him, I have learned humility. I have a woman come to my classes who has 13 children at home. Yet somehow, she manages to take an hour and a half out of her day to come to yoga class and do something good for herself. Commitment in a nutshell. Despite the fact that I am the one standing in front of the room, instructing the motions, guiding the breath, I learn so much from the people that step through the practice room door.
So this is a shout-out to all the students out there. To all those who are committed to their practice, to their learning and their personal growth. This is for the inflexible, the weak, the shaky ones who struggle and fall but always get right back up. This is for anyone who has ever made the time to step on the mat, even with a crazy busy schedule. This is for those who are willing to ask the hard questions, and face the answers. To those who are open to the lesson. Receptive to every moment.
This is an acknowledgement of all those who can actually drop the ego and listen to their body. To everyone who has learned that making a mistake is only an opportunity to learn and improve. To those who actually strive to be better. Who hunger for more.
We are all here to support one another and teach one another that together, anything is possible. Let’s join together on our respective journeys as students and as teachers of the world.
Ancora imparo - still I am learning.
